Sorrowful Mysteries for Living Water

The Agony in the Garden:

Mary Refuge of Holy Love, comfort your child. Implore your spouse on my behalf that I may receive the grace to imitate the surrender Jesus displayed in the Agony in the Garden. Oh, Most Holy Spirit, Living Water of God, wash away all anxiety in my heart, that I may trust in the Divine Will of God and resolve to drink of the cup prepared for me. Help me to calmly accept all things as from the hand of the Father. Oh, Holy Ghost, come, bring peace to all the hearts on earth.

The Scourging at the Pillar:

Mary Refuge of Holy Love, sustain me with your grace. Implore your spouse on my behalf that I may receive the grace of endurance that Jesus displayed for love of us at the Scourging at the Pillar. Oh, Most Holy Spirit, Living Water of God, saturate my being that I may undertake a life of physical denial and suffer any pain the Father wills to send me—in reparation for my sins and those of the whole world. Oh, Holy Ghost, come, strengthen all hearts on earth.

The Crowning with Thorns:

Mary Refuge of Holy Love, lend me your profound humility. Implore your spouse on my behalf that I may receive the grace to imitate the submission Jesus displayed at the Crowning with Thorns. Oh, Most Holy Spirit, Living Water of God, fill me to overflowing that I, too, may suffer humiliations and persecutions with patience and love to be a living example of our merciful, loving Savior. Oh, Holy Ghost, come, humble all hearts on earth.

The Carrying of the Cross:

Mary Refuge of Holy Love, pray for me in my time of need. Implore your spouse on my behalf that I may receive the grace of perseverance which Jesus displayed in His carrying of the Cross. Oh, Most Holy Spirit, Living Water of God, nourish my Body and soul that I may find the strength to continue in the Christian life, especially at those points where I must carry my own Cross. Oh, Holy Ghost, come, revive all souls on earth.

The Crucifixion:

Mary Refuge of Holy Love, be near me now and at the hour of my death. Implore your spouse on my behalf that I may receive the grace to see the glorious Divine Will hidden beneath the tragedy of the Crucifixion. Oh, Most Holy Spirit, Living Water of God, still the ripples of my mind and calm my fears that I may see, not with the eyes of flesh, but with the crystal clear waters of your infinite wisdom. Oh, Holy Ghost, come, bring understanding to all hearts on earth.
