Glorious Mysteries in the Scriptures

The Resurrection

“Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the tomb. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone, and sat upon it. And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. The guards shook from fear of him and became like dead men. And the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified. He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you to Galilee. There you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” (Matthew 28:1-7)

The Ascension

“…you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth. And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them, and they said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:8-11)

The Descent of the Holy Spirit

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a noise like a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.” (Acts 2:1-4)

The Assumption

“Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.” (Psalm 131:8)

“For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.” (1 Corinthians 15:52-53)

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” (Revelations 12:1)

The Coronation

"He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever. And of his Kingdom there shall be no end." (Luke 1:32-33)

“My heart is stirred… as I recite my verses for the king… at your right hand stands the queen, arrayed in gold.” (Psalm 45:1, 9)

“And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” (Revelations 19:16)

“Say to the king and to the queen mother: come down from your throne." (Jeremiah 16:18)
