The Resurrection
When Mary Magdalen and the other women found the tomb empty they were confused. Two angels appeared and said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.” (Luke 24:5)
Sometimes, we too search for Jesus in the wrong places. As Christians, we have a desire to be with Him and yet we put ourselves in situations that are not life-giving… sinful crowds, sinful habits, sinful entertainment.
Blessed Mother, grant me the grace to seek the living Jesus in His life-giving Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion… in His Living Word, in life-giving relationships and events, and in life-giving entertainment. Give me the strength to resist the temptations that end in death so that I too may be a witness of His Resurrection.
The Ascension
The disciples were walking with Jesus, asking Him when He would restore the Kingdom to Israel. Jesus said it was not for them to know the time. Instead, He told them they would receive power through the Holy Spirit and be His witnesses to the end of the earth. And then He vanished into the clouds. They were left standing there confused, still without answers, alone in the middle of their journey.
Blessed Mother, grant me the grace to also move forward in tis journey through life… even though so many questions remain unanswered and the timing of promises remain unknown. Help me to see that He has not left me alone but waits for me in the tabernacle, in the Blessed Sacrament, to strengthen me, guide me, and help me… that I too may be one of His witnesses to the ends of the earth.
The Descent of the Holy Spirit
At Babel, God’s people had moved away from Him. The were uniting together in their wealth, building a tower to make a name for themselves, without God. And so, God confused their speech to separate and scatter them. At Pentecost it is the Holy Spirit who unites the people, allowing them to speak in the same language once again… witnessing to Jesus, building now the Church (not a tower), and giving glory to the name of Jesus.
Blessed Mother, grant me the grace today to speak the common language of love with those who are different from me, those who I normally can’t understand. May the Holy Spirit in me be our connection, uniting us. May I thereby be His witness, and may this give glory to God’s name and give way to a conversion of hearts.
The Assumption
There are no bodily remains of the Blessed Mother on earth. She cannot be found in any grave, any tomb. She was caught up into God, mysteriously, eternally. And She now participates in His ministry of salvation. Appearing to visionaries in every corner of the globe, pleading for a return to God, She has become His foremost witness.
Blessed Mother grant me the grace to be eternally caught up into God also. Protect me so that I will never be found in the things of earth that lead to the decomposition of my soul. Help me to participate in His ministry by carrying His Light into the world. Make of me a witness of His glory.
The Coronation
When Mary is crowned Queen of Heaven and earth, it illustrates the fulfilment of the Lord’s promises… that Hi is King, that we are heirs., that a crown awaits the children of God, that victory is His. At the coronation, She is witness to the hope we have in Him.
Blessed Mother, grant me the grace of faith, hope, and rust. Help me to believe in the promise that awaits me, in my royal heritage, in my impending victory through Him. Help me to trust always in His Kingship. And may this hope in me be visible to others, and make of me a witness to His glory.
