It might surprise some people but I was “away from the church” at one point in my life. I didn’t buy into the whole “religion” thing... mainly because I hadn’t yet figured out that Christianity isn’t a set of rules, but a person. A person who had every answer and every blessing I was seeking, but who I was running from. Running from truth into error, running from mercy into sin, running from peace into chaos, running from freedom into captivity, from grace into burden, from light into darkness... running, running, running.
But He never stopped chasing me. He never stopped seeking me, pursuing me, loving me. Eventually, I got tired of running, tired of life, and I surrendered. I remember the moment vividly. I knelt down at the side of my bed crying and said out loud, “if you’re real, I need to know.” And BOOM! I don’t know how to put into words what happened, but let’s just say almighty power hugged me in that moment and I KNEW HIM. I stopped running and He caught hold of me.
Sooooo... when I hear the song “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury I don’t sing it, I PRAY it! I hope it doesn’t become so overplayed, though, that we lose the message. The powerful message that Jesus never EVER stops chasing running souls.
If you’re running, please just listen to this song... https://npstr.cm/7c3rei
Slow down, surrender. Everything you’re seeking is in Him. I promise. ❤️
Reckless Love
by Cory Asbury
Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me
And oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
And I couldn't earn it, and I don't deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah
There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me....
